Drivers on the catwalk: twenty years of the Amber Lounge Fashion Show

It started as a dare. In 2006, three years into the life of Amber Lounge, someone suggested putting the drivers in clothes that were not fireproof. The idea was absurd. The result was iconic.

The Amber Lounge Fashion Show has since become the single most photographed event of Monaco race weekend outside the race itself. Under the patronage of HSH Prince Albert II, it pairs current and former racing drivers with haute couture in a charity format that has raised millions for causes across Monaco and beyond.

Charles Leclerc walked in 2019. George Russell in 2022. Esteban Ocon has appeared multiple times. The format is simple: drivers walk, the audience bids, the money goes to charity. But the spectacle is anything but simple. It is the only moment during race week where the barrier between paddock and public dissolves completely.

Over 200 media outlets cover it annually. It generates more social impressions than any single Amber Lounge activation. And it remains the only fashion show in the world where the models have won podiums.

Twenty years. Fifty drivers. Two hundred press credentials per edition. One room.
